North Grand River Riverfront Park, 12570 Grand River Dr SE or 11980 Fulton St E, Lowell ~ 12/26/20 & 1/2/21
Enter off of Grand River Drive or behind Walgreens on Fulton Street (we came in off Fulton). Walking across the very cool bridge affords one beautiful views of the Grand River, especially today after the snowfall.
One week ago the view was a little bleaker.
The aforementioned bridge spans the Grand River.
Three photos from last week:
We came here today because of the snow which can render some park paths difficult. This paved trail was plowed.
The zig-zag boardwalk was not plowed but was easily navigated.
Off the boardwalk is a dirt path that goes along the river for awhile ~ last week & this week:
The path is lovely as are the views of the river. Just beware of the fallen trees in the path.
Eventually the trail ends at private property and leads you back out to the paved trail.
We took the longer loop around which brings you to the Grand River entrance and a porta-potty. No other restrooms are available, fyi.
After re-crossing the bridge, there's a small loop that will return you to the Walgreens parking lot and give you a few more steps (but don't take the first paved option after the bridge - it's a dead-end).
And in case you have any bridge shenanigans in mind, be advised that cameras are watching :-)
It's an easy trail to walk ~ it's all paved and flat (unless you take the river path, and not counting the gentle incline of the bridge). If you don't repeat a loop or two, the most you'll get is about 2 1/2 miles. On a day like today, after a snowfall, it was perfect.
