Roselle Park, 1010 Grand River Dr NE, Ada ~ 12/30/20

Situated on the former site of Ada Beef Company, Roselle Park offers flat, paved trails that take you down to and along the Grand River. There are mile markers and a couple of maps. The maps are informative but there's no way you can get lost in this park.
The routes are easy hikes and very popular on a nice day. Today being a snowy day, we shared the park with three other people. It was great. Because we've walked here so many times, I am including photos from other days/years as well as from today.

This boardwalk looks like it might take you somewhere but don't be fooled. It's a dead-end.
And no one wanted to venture forth on it today, at least so far.
We always stop at this overlook, just because it is there.
Unless we are avoiding crowds, we take the path that brings you directly to the river, walking through the park counter-clockwise as most people do.
This creek will be crossed twice depending on your route.
Today, the Grand River had floating, frozen islands coasting by.
Across the river, many uprooted trees could be seen.
Earlier this month, we noticed evidence of a lot of beaver activity. They just might be taking down all of the trees of Roselle!
Their activity stood out more today in the snow.
The original grain silos from Ada Beef were left standing and back in September of 2014 we found the door open to the silo with the outside deck. So naturally we climbed the stairs.
But alas, the door to the deck was locked. We took in the views from the windows and climbed back down the 95 steps.
Explanation posted elsewhere:
Random wildlife can be spotted at different times of the year and this month alone we've spotted a rooster and a red-tailed hawk :-).
The grassy trails are always an option but can be wet and muddy. Most of the park floods in the spring when the Grand River overflows its banks. (These photos are from last May).
And back in 2019, high winds took the top off of one of the silos.
We prefer to be on dirt trails and in the woods but today we knew that Ada Township would have the snow removed from the paved paths. And each season here brings its own beauty.
If you walk each loop, the hike is 3 miles and is not challenging but it is still enjoyable, especially on a wintery day like today (and they have bathrooms open year-round).
